1. Enable Two-Step Verification

• Go to Settings → Account → Two-step verification → Turn on.

• Set a 6-digit PIN.

👉 Even if someone steals your SIM, they can’t access your WhatsApp without this PIN.


2. Use a Strong Screen Lock

• Set a fingerprint, Face ID, or passcode on your phone.

• This prevents strangers from opening your WhatsApp if they get hold of your device.


3. Be Careful With Group Invites

• Go to Settings → Privacy → Groups → My Contacts.

• This stops random people from adding you to suspicious groups without your permission.


4. Watch Out for Scam Links

• Don’t click on strange links that promise free airtime, free bundles, or loans.

• Most of these are phishing attempts to steal your personal information.


5. Turn Off Auto-Download

• Go to Settings → Storage and Data → Media auto-download.

• This prevents harmful files or viruses from downloading automatically.


6. Keep WhatsApp Updated

• Always update to the latest version via Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

• Updates fix security loopholes that hackers might exploit.


7. Don’t Share Verification Codes

• If you get an SMS with a WhatsApp verification code, never share it with anyone—not even a friend.

• Scammers use this trick to take over accounts.
